The School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at the Newark Campus of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, seeks candidates for two positions to begin in the Fall 2026: (1) A tenure-track assistant professor position, specializing in Health Care Administration and Policy. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to healthcare management, health equity, health systems and delivery, health policy, and other areas that fall at the intersection of healthcare and public administration. (2) A tenure-track assistant professor position, specializing in Public Management. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to public leadership, emergency management, public budgeting and finance, performance management, human resource management, and digital governance. Research in non-U.S. or comparative contexts is welcome.
Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Experience with, or interest in, teaching students with diverse cultural backgrounds is also important.
The appointee will become a core faculty member in a NASPAA-accredited public administration program that is ranked 7th nationally in Urban Policy, 8th in Public Management and Leadership, 10th in Nonprofit Management by U.S. News and World Report and holds two other top-25 rankings in Public Affairs and Administration. Rutgers SPAA ranked #5 in the nation and #10 in the world for Public Administration by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. SPAA was ranked No. 7 Worldwide for Public Administration in the 2023 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in public administration or a related field at the time of appointment.
